Visiting Scholar Program

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Expertise in a CSEE focus area, such as Service-Learning, Advisory, Honor Council, Equity and Inclusion, Character/ Social-Emotional Learning, Wellness, or other areas       
  • Experience with adult learning strategies
  • Eagerness to share what you know
  • Eagerness to learn about areas other than your own expertise       
  • Ability to work remotely (and comfort with this)   
  • Currently employed in an independent school
  • Preference to someone with knowledge of CSEE (ie. at a member school, or has participated at CSEE events, etc.)

Responsibilities       

  • Would work 12 days in the Summer of 2018 and 12 days in the Summer of 2019 (work would be telecommuting) 
  • Would be a part of one-hour staff calls twice a month during the school year     
  • Routine communications via phone calls and emails      
  • CSEE Events
         - Would attend at least three of CSEE’s professional development events
         - CSEE would pay the travel expense for three events            
         - Attendance at all events would be gratis

Possible Duties

  Network / Research / Advise:       

  • Provide the CSEE staff with into contemporary issues in schools       
  • Connect with other educators / practitioners in schools       
  • Help determine event topics, schedules, and speakers

  Writing:

  • Write the “Faculty or Parent Tips” in Connections Quarterly
  • Write a Connections article       
  • Write a publication

  Engagement:

  • Member Consultation       
  • Member Certification process       
  • Lead a “CSEE Virtual Department” web meeting       
  • Lead/ speak at a CSEE event       
  • Engage with attendees at CSEE events       
  • Present a faculty and/or parent webinar

Application should include:

1)    Current CV

2)    Two Recommendations (please provide names and contact information)

3)    Statements describing:

  • Your current area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of adult learning strategies.
  • In looking at Possible Duties (above), describe which of those possibilities you would commit to doing over the course of the year and how you might do them.
  • In looking at the CSEE subject areas that are not your area of expertise, which areas would you like to learn most, and how would you envision this position expanding your work?

Key Dates       

  • Applicants should let the CSEE office know that they intend to apply by May 1, 2018 ·     
  • Applications should be received no later than June 1, 2018
