Making our Pact features programs from six schools who have taken an extra step in their character education/moral development initiatives: they have established a compact that anchors the program and orients the school community. Some schools call them pacts or compacts; others refer to them as a “way” or community contract. These pacts keep in the forefront of people’s minds what the school stands for and how each person plays a role in building and maintaining the culture.
Contributing schools include: Isidore Newman School (LA), Brentwood School (CA), Collegiate School (VA), The Peck School (NJ), Greensboro Day School (NC), and Breck School (MN).
CSEE regrets the oversight of Dr. Julie O'Rourke's name as co-author of The Peck School's chapter for this book. In addition to co-authoring, Julie was the primary creative force behind the InDeCoRe program at the School.
